Personal branding is a controversial topic. Some see it as being fake and building a persona of who we really are. Others see it as an integral part of our career and life.

My perspective is different – we all have a personal brand. Some create it intentionally, others let it develop organically. We can call it reputation if that feels more comfortable. However, we need to realize that all the actions we take either improve or negatively impact the perceptions others have of us. This week, two of my blog posts focus in the area of personal branding:

The first is titled  Personal Brand Perceptions and it talks about the 3 components involved in marketing our personal brand – content, consistency, and connections.

The second goes into more controversial territory and is titled Dress the Part. We may not like it, but we are judged by others by what we choose to wear. We each have a personal style, and others create an impression of us based on this style. This post asks the question – what point to you want to make with your wardrobe?

My Other Posts This Week

How Do I Want to Feel? This post explores how we could consider the feelings we want in our lives and starting to take intentional action toward them.

How Do You Feel? In contrast to the prior post, this post suggests we honor how we are feeling right now and adjust our schedule and environment to match.

Caring for Our Soul. What does it mean to care for our soul? This post looks at some definitions and then provides my perspective on how we can all take care of our unique soul.

Podcasts That Caught My Attention

The first two podcasts could be listened to as a flight focused on our personal energy and motivation. Loosely, I could even add the 3rd to the list. The final recommendation is one I love to listen to as spring arrives in Michigan.

Lack of Motivation? Here are 8 Baby Steps for Finding Your Fire. 11 minutes. Optimal Living Daily. We all get in funks where motivation is extremely low. This podcast provides 8 baby steps – really, really baby steps – to help shake things up and get your motivation back.

More Energy and How to Get It. 36 minutes. The Next Big Idea Daily. This episode covers the highlights of two books. First is The Life Machines: How Taking Care of Your Mitochondria Can Transform Your Health by Daria Mochly-Rosen. The second is Good Energy: The Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health Casey Means.

Aim for Better. 4 minutes. Before Breakfast. This episode suggests that instead of aiming for perfection we should aim for better than it is now.

The Magical, Mesmerizing Migration of Monarch Butterflies. 13 minutes. TED Talks Daily. This episode came out in 2024 and this was my third year listening. The magical story of the monarchs continues to connect. So, as we move into the season where they come north, I’m sharing it again.
