Our personal brand is all about perceptions.

What people say and think about us when we aren’t in the room.

Everything we do impacts those perceptions.

And, for most people, those actions aren’t intentional.

They aren’t processing the image they portray.

Inside they might think they are projecting one thing.

On the outside the perception of others is completely different.

So, how can we more intentionally market who we are on the inside?

Through the Fingerprints Branding Method: Mindset, Message, and Marketing.

Today we are going to talk about marketing.

Bringing our authentic self and unique differences to the surface.

Letting others see the gifts we may have been holding inside.

Providing value.

3 Marketing Mantras

Personal Marketing has three mantras: Content, Consistency, and Connections.

The three work together, not in any order, to add value and influence perceptions.

Content – This is the work you do and the information you share. Curating or creating, you are bringing information of value to others. This can be done within the walls of your organization, in the circle of current clients, within your industry, or even broader across industries. Your approach and the content you choose can make you a resource for others. Giving generously builds your brand.

Consistency – The second tenant is consistency. The more others can get to know your personal brand and recognize it quickly, the better. Everything we do communicates a message. Our content and tone are at the forefront. Yet, communication channels we use, our personal style, and so much more create an overall impression. Stay consistent whenever possible.

Connections – You can’t add value if you don’t have connections. These are your internal customers, co-workers, clients, and broader communities within which you build your personal brand. Always consider how you can add more value to these connections, provide information, ideas and insight that will help them move their work and life forward.
