The other day, I came across a quote that really resonated:

“It is never too early or too late to care for the well-being of the soul.”  – Epicurus

Our soul.

What is it?

This quote got me thinking deeply about this question.

When we reference our soul, we are talking about something within us.

Online there are many descriptions and definitions.

I connected with this one:

“A soul is made up of the mind, will, and emotions of a person. The soul is the seat of feelings, desires, and affections. It’s the character or substance of a person.” – Love Worth Finding Website

And Wikipedia added this layer:

“The soul is the non-material essence of a person, which includes one’s identity, personality, and memories.”

My Perspective

When I connect the definitions back to the original quote, I see new things.

We can start taking care of our soul at any point in our lives.

We can honor our emotions.

Cherish our memories.

Shape our identity.

Understand our personality.

The well-being of our soul depends on how we engage with the world.

The self-talk going on in our head.

The soul is the self that only we see.

As I look forward, I’m going to consider self-care for my soul.

I will strive to treat myself well…. with empathy and grace.

Your Turn

Have you spent time thinking about your soul?

How do you nurture and care for your soul?

What are some ways that you could start treating your soul with more empathy?
