Sometimes too many things you want to do show up at the same time.
Professional opportunities.
Social invites.
Family events.
We want to say, “Yes. Yes. Yes!”
Yet, if we do, deep down we know we will end up exhausted.
Unable to do our best work.
Enjoy the moments with friends and family.
Saying the difficult “no” opens the possibilities of the “yes”.
Taking a Breath
Slowing down to think about what is in front of us is key.
Taking a breath to evaluate the commitments together.
Considering the “what if’s”.
What would it look like if we said yes to just one?
How about two?
Three?
Where is the tipping point?
Not the point at which we can put them all on the schedule.
Rather, the point at which we will be too exhausted to enjoy any of it.
Finding that point isn’t easy, but our future self will thank us for getting there.
Your Turn
Have you felt the pressure of too many commitments?
Do you feel them coming in as the holiday season approaches?
Can you take a breath and sort out the ones that really need a “no”?
