Last week, I was in Florida.

I drove my parents down for the winter.

I helped them get settled and opened our house / rental property.

We arrived with the normal annual activities to do and a couple projects to tackle.

I was there for a week, and the list seemed very doable.

While we got through the list, the week was full of unexpected activities.

Cable TV that would only play one channel.

Two trips to order glasses (long story) that ate up 4 hours.

The addition of what seemed like a small project that turned into a big one.

My Perspective

As each of the planned activities didn’t go as planned, we shifted the plan.

Rather than getting upset or frustrated, we laughed and changed course.

This was a great reminder for me to not let life’s curve balls trip me up.

I’m a planner and as a result I want life to go according to the plan.

Yet it never does.

Practicing how to pivot with humor was a benefit of this week.

Reminding myself not to be so serious and coiled so tight.

When life goes off course, go with the flow and have fun with it.

Your Turn

How do you handle changes to your plan?

Do you find reactions change based on how busy you are at the time?

How could you lighten up the next time an unexpected challenge comes your way?
