When we are in a job search, we are trying to get the attention of many.

The AI bot that scans our resume.

The recruiter.

The HR leader.

The hiring manager.

Leadership.

Potential Peers.

Teams that might work for us.

What each of them “need” from our resume and interview are different.

My Perspective

What if we considered each of these roles as personas?

Clearly mapping out their role, pain points, and needs.

This exercise might cause us to adjust.

Our resume.

Our career stories.

Our interview details.

And more.

Knowing what each group is thinking, feeling, and doing provides insight.

We may think the job interview is about us.

Our skills.

Our knowledge.

It’s not.

It’s about them.

What they need.

The more we know about them the better.

Your Turn

Do you think personas could be a helpful tool in the job search?

Would they change based on the company and role?

How could these personas be used during your job search?
