Yes, I know this is a weird title for a blog post.

I couldn’t think of something better, and I didn’t want AI to help.

Because, in some ways, technology is one of our challenges when it comes to managing time.

Our digital calendar makes time look easy.

A block for a meeting (or 10).

A block for an appointment.

A block to pick up dinner.

What starts as a beautifully stacked day, turns to Jenga as the day goes on.

We pull blocks here and there to handle the unexpected.

And soon, our beautiful block tower topples to the ground.

Jenga isn’t meant to last. The game is built on an eventual collapse.

So, why do we treat our schedules like they should be perfect towers?

The Human Calendar

It’s time to shift our thinking that time should be stacked like block.

A perfect little set of boxes flowing on our screen.

A human schedule wouldn’t be perfect.

Instead, it would bend and breathe.

The human calendar would realize that we get tired, run late, and need breaks.

Most of the time, the things that matter most in our day aren’t on the calendar at all.

An impromptu conversation at work.

A special moment with someone after dinner.

Maybe our schedule needs to shift to have more rhythm.

One that provides breathing room for rest, serendipity, and the messiness of life.

We need to stop building the towers and build something better.

Your Turn

Does your schedule sometimes feel like you are playing Jenga?

How could you shift from the perfect tower to something with more space?

What is one block you can remove from your calendar today?
