Today, I listened to an episode of the Lazy Genius podcast.

The host suggested we shift our perspective on a to-do list and instead create two lists:

The have-to and hope-to list.

This helps us realize what is not optional and yet we don’t lose sight of what we want to do.

My Perspective

I really like this idea.

Currently both types of actions sit on the same list for me each day.

Some things are crossed off and others are not.

I end up feeling disappointed instead of accomplished because I didn’t get to it all.

With two lists, I could feel good that I got through the have-to list.

If some of the hope-to items also get checked off I could feel great.

Then, reassess for the day / week / month ahead.

Your Turn

What do you think about these two lists?

Would they make you feel more accomplished at the end of the day?

Do you have other approaches that work for you?
