It’s hard to believe that the quarantine days of the pandemic were years ago.
During that time, I went on a daily walk around our neighborhood.
It was an opportunity to get out of the house.
What I soon realized is that I needed that walk.
The quiet. The space. Nature.
My brain slowed down. My body relaxed. My energy restored.
Since then, I’ve continued a daily walk outdoors.
Today I was reminded of another benefit.
I sense the changes of the season.
I see the changes in the landscape.
I feel the shifts in temperature.
I hear the unique sounds.
I smell the difference.
Right now, the trees are flowering.
Creating a spectacular sight and smell.
The birds are back chirping and flying here and there.
I pause sometimes to take pictures.
The squirrel in the post was one of the shots today.
We both stopped, spent time looking at one another, and then went on our way.
Your Turn
Do you take walks outdoors?
If you do, what are the things you notice?
If you don’t, could you find even just 15 minutes today to give it a try?
