Many of us have lists.
To do lists.
Grocery lists.
To be read lists.
Home improvement lists.
Used to organize our lives.
While I’ve written about the usefulness of lists, I’ve not written about the tools I use.
I realize that much of our “personal work” is hidden from the world.
We don’t talk about the processes that help us behind the scenes.
So, I thought I would share some of the tools that are working for me right now.
Maybe there is an idea here that could work for you as well.
My Approach
I have three places for lists – paper, electronic, and in an app.
Paper is my main to do list. It lives inside my planner.
I like paper planners for writing notes and keeping track of things I need to do.
Mine is a Clever Fox Advanced weekly planner.
There is a full page to plan the week, recap what went well, and track “streaks”.
Then, each day has a ½ page with space for both the to do list & notes.
Items on the to do list are an open circle (vs. a dot) and I put an “x” through them when complete.
Online, I use apps on my phone for lists I like to have with me.
My running shopping lists live on the AnyList app.
I have Kroger, Target, Costco, Home Depot, and Amazon going all the time.
When I think of something I add it to the list for the next trip / order.
My other lists are housed in the Notes App. A few examples include:
- Podcasts I want to include in my weekly summary
- Projects I would like to take on around the house (with measurements I might need)
- Any “ideas” that come to me when I’m out walking or running errand
Your Turn
Where do you keep your to do lists?
Are the all in one location or spread across several tools?
What one piece of advice do you have for others about using to do lists.
