You know the saying.

“Actions speak louder than words.”

This is true in all areas of life… including the impacts on our personal brand.

Because our brand is all about the perceptions others have of us.

This is why a Forbes article caught my attention.

It was titled “12 Questions that Reveal How You’re Really Perceived in Meetings”.

I highly recommend reading it.

The actions that send a signal about us include when we arrive.

Our level of confidence. Preparation. Contribution.

And 8 other dimensions.

My Perspective

We may not like that people are making judgements about us based on our actions.

However, they do.

We have two choices:

  1. Decide that we don’t care about what others think.
  2. Decide to intentionally create the brand we want to be known for.

The second option still has a lot of choices within.

For example, if we want to be seen as someone who contributes, we must decide how to do that.

Many feel meetings are a waste of time… and some are.

However, that isn’t an excuse for how we show up.

Maybe if we all started showing up better, meetings would get better.

Your Turn

How would you describe your meeting brand character?

What do you think others perceive based on your arrival, preparedness, and engagement?

What one thing would you approach differently when you look through the personal brand lens?
