Have you read The Let Them Theory by Mel Robins?
I read it about a year ago and continue to think about the beginning of the book – her story.
She talked about her path and how she came to write this book as well as her prior books.
What struck me is the succinct clarity of her concepts.
Her first book, The 5 Second Rule, was a concept of counting down to gain courage.
The next book was The High Five Habit, focusing on confidence and overcoming limiting beliefs.
As she describes all three in the first chapter, her focus becomes clear.
She has written entire books around one clear idea or concept.
One technique.
The books go into the science behind the idea and the stories to make them come to life.
Yet the primary focus is crystal clear.
My Perspective
We should all look for this clarity in our work.
Personally, I have so many ideas. On so many topics. My challenge is narrowing the list.
I’m drawn to include it all.
Provide a framework to understand everything, all at once.
What if, I pulled out one thing?
Just one idea.
What would I choose?
Mel Robins focuses on Motivation and Confidence.
Gretchin Rubin on Happiness.
Laura Vanderkam on Time Management.
Lisa Woodruff on Organization.
I wonder if we all dug into our work what we might discover as our one thing.
Maybe that one thing is part of our unique difference…our special sauce.
Your Turn
Do you see a focus in your work?
Are you able to distill your ideas into a succinct package?
How could this idea help you articulate something you are currently working on?
