This week, I’m highlighting a post I wrote on LinkedIn (not on my blog like the links below).

The post is titled 10 Personal Branding Actions to Take Now.

It’s a short reflection on why the end of the year is the perfect moment to reset your personal brand and make sure the way you show up professionally reflects who you are today. If you haven’t done a year-end refresh yet, this list will help you get started with simple, practical steps.

My Blog Posts This Week

What Do I Want? This post explores how we can procrastinate for many reasons. However, sometimes it’s because our values and goals are shifting.

From Path to Portfolio. We have been trained to have a career path. A straight line that ideally works like a ladder moving up through the years. This isn’t reality and this post explores how our experiences should be considered more like a portfolio.

Time Change. I’ve always thought that the time change in the spring was most challenging for me. In this post, I explore how that might not be the case.

Giving Thanks. A short post of gratitude.

Transitions. Life is full of transitions. I enjoy the annual transition of flipping over to a new year. This post builds on a quote from Seth Godin about the importance of beginnings and endings.

Podcasts That Caught My Attention

This week is more about our life than our careers focusing on the holiday season and settling into winter. The first podcast has an approach you may want to adopt in the year ahead.

The Benefit of Routine Folders. 6 minutes. Optimal Work Daily. Carl Pullein highlights the powerful shift that happens when you separate routine maintenance tasks from the ones that genuinely move your life forward.

The Simple Formula for a Longer and Healthier Life. 13 minutes. The Next Big Idea Daily.  Dr. Tom Frieden summarizes his book The Formula for Better Health. He describes how most of the health tragedies we fear are avoidable.

How to Actually Look Forward to Winter. 23 minutes. Life Kit. Kari Leibowitz, author of How to Winter: Harness your Mindset to Thrive on Cold, Dark, or Difficult Days, talks about how winter can be a time of reflection, creativity and coziness that we look forward to instead of dreading.

Do Holidays Leave You Exhausted, Not Restored? 37 minutes. More Happier. Priya Parker, Francis Lam & Kate Bowler join Gretchen to discuss how to embrace the holidays as opportunities for intentional connection and meaning.

We Are Eating the Earth. 26 minutes. The Next Big Idea Daily. This episode features two books. The first is We Are Eating the Earth by Michael Grunwald explaining how our food system is destroying the planet and what it will take to fix it. The second features Amanda Little and her book The Fate of Food telling us what we’ll eat in a bigger, hotter, smarter world.
