Wow.

1000 days of writing.

I can’t believe it’s been nearly 3 years.

Each morning…every morning… I’ve written a blog post.

1000 days x 30 minutes (some more some less) a day = 500 hours.

Initially, I set out to help busy professionals deal with daily challenges.

Managing time.

Juggling all the things life throws at us.

Trying our best to craft a life that is “perfect” based on our own measurement.

After 20+ years in corporate marketing I wanted to make a positive impact.

Writing everyday had deepened my knowledge and interest in a number of areas.

The topics I’ve been drawn to write about have moved around.

Based on interest.

Or projects I was working on.

Or need… helping those impacted by layoffs.

Metro Detroit has been hit hard.

I’m proud of the work.

To mark Day 1000, I decided to go back and read the posts.

What I Found

Re-reading the posts took a lot longer than I imagined it would.

I discovered many posts I had completely forgotten about.

Importantly, I realized that the MeEO concept is at the core of it all.

The approach that lets each of us take control of our career and life.

Focused on my passion to help individuals unleash their strengths.

And enable organizations to benefit with more employee engagement & creativity.

I was surprised to find I had written about an underlying mindset shift.

The one that happens before the visible actions start.

We each need to believe we have agency and autonomy.

Both at work and at home.

The ability to shift the tides (even slightly) to take control.

Moving from life lived on defense to one lived on offense.

There are A LOT of posts on this concept…. I didn’t realize I had written so many.

Once we make this shift, working on time and energy comes next.

We need more space in our life for projects, rest, organization, and all the other hopes and dreams.

With space there is room for all the other things I write about:

Self-Awareness.

The 8 dimensions of wellbeing.

Personal Branding.

Annual Planning.

Confidence.

Motivation.

Organization.

Relationships.

Achieving Goals.

Habits & Routines.

Soooooo many topics!

The Top 1%

This brings me to the Top 1%.

I’ve avoided list in writing this post.

I have MANY more than 10 that I want to choose.

And I’m afraid of picking the wrong ones.

But why?

They are all on the blog.

Search for any topic and posts will pop up.

These are some of my favorites.

From MeEO to CEO – The background and mindset shift.

Drivers of Happiness – My first post on Agency & Autonomy

Maximizing Daily Energy – A framework that I continue to use in coaching conversations.

Wellbeing Journey – A scale to consider your wellbeing across all 8 dimensions of wellbeing.

Lovemarks for Personal Brands – Following the path of respect, trust, love.

15-Minute Project – Highlight what spending 15 minutes a day for a year can accomplish.

Harnessing Hope – I did a series on this. It all started with this post.

What is a Brand? From corporate brands to personal brands, it’s the feeling you get from them.

A Letter to Your Future Self – I think I’m including this one because I want to do this right now.

How to Stabilize Your Career in an Uncertain Economy – Feels appropriate to include.

What’s Next

1000 days of writing.

Now what?

The short answer – keep writing.

However, I’ve been thinking a lot about what this means.

The longer response – make a 100-day shift.

Since I write everyday and only post on weekdays, I have a 220 day “backlog” of posts.

For the next 100 days I’m going to post from the backlog and write something else.

I want to take the content I have and package it differently.

This might be a book.

A new course.

A series of some sort.

I never know where my writing will take me.

I do know you, the professional striving for more, will be at the center.

Those who are overwhelmed and ready to take back control.

Those seeking direction and purpose in their careers.

Those striving to be the best MeEO possible.

Your Turn

For those who have been on the journey with me, please drop me a note.

I would love to know more about the posts that have resonated with you.

What topics would you like to see me cover in the next 1000 days?
