“The sun symbolizes our ego and physical identity, while the moon represents our emotional landscape and inner world. When the moon is full, the sun sits directly across from the moon, which is a call for balance in our personal and/or professional lives.” – Love by Luna
We often expect ourselves to operate like the sun.
Steady. Bright. Always on.
But we’re not the sun.
We’re more like the moon.
Cyclical. Shifting.
Waning and waxing depending on energy, emotion, and season.
And that’s not a flaw.
The moon doesn’t apologize for its phases.
And neither should we.
Instead of pushing through or trying to “power up,” maybe we need to pause and ask:
What phase am I in right now?
Here’s a way to think about it:
New Moon
The beginning.
Dark. Quiet.
Seeds under the soil.
We may not feel ready, but this is a powerful time to set intentions and make quiet plans.
Waxing Moon
Momentum is building.
Energy is increasing.
We’re acting, experimenting, adjusting.
There’s a hum of possibility in the air.
Full Moon
Illumination. Reflection.
Things come into focus.
We see what’s working and what’s not.
It’s a good moment to pause, celebrate progress, and realign our direction.
Waning Moon
Letting go. Pulling back.
Shedding what we no longer need so we can make space for what’s next.
This is not quitting.
It’s clearing.
Summary
None of these phases are “better” than the others.
They all serve a purpose.
The problem comes when we try to live in only one. When we demand full moon energy 24/7.
We shouldn’t force ourselves into a single phase.
Our job is to notice what phase we’re in and act accordingly.
That’s how we build a career and life that work for us.
Your Turn
What phase am I in?
What does that phase need?
How can you best align with the cycles of the moon?
