When we think of fluency, we think language.

Fluent in English, Spanish, Chinese, etc.

While the primary definition of fluency is tied to language, there is another meaning.

The ability for something to flow freely.

This could apply to many things in our lives.

We could be fluent in photography, project planning, cooking, or design.

My Perspective

We don’t think about the fluency of our other skills.

I believe if we looked beyond language, we could appreciate our other talents in new ways.

What does fluency feel like?

We could explore how we flow freely when we are doing activities we are fluent in.

I wonder if we would think about our strengths differently if we understood the flow.

The flow might also come at different times of day.

When are we the most fluent?

I believe my writing is fluent in the morning but strained after midday.

Your Turn

Is there something you are fluent in?

Is that fluency more pronounced at some times and strained at other times?

How could you continue to develop that fluency?
