When we are considering another job, there may be a lot on our mind.
We may want a promotion.
A higher salary.
A change.
All these things could be great.
And they will feel great when they happen.
We are picked.
We are in a better financial situation.
Learning new things.
All good.
My Perspective
All is good.
Until things change.
Three weeks or three months in, we realize something is off.
It’s a normal Tuesday and we realize we don’t love the job.
In fact, we don’t really even like it.
This is when we realize we’ve been wooed.
We were drawn in by those things outside the actual job.
The salary. The title. The promotion.
All seemed great (and they were) in the moment.
We realize that we were so interested in those things we didn’t notice the actual job.
The tasks we would find ourselves in the middle of…. every…. single…. day.
And we don’t like those tasks.
They drain us.
We slog through the hours.
Hopefully, as we start to look for the next role we will remember.
Apply to the job we will enjoy.
Keep salary and title in mind, but don’t let decisions sit there.
