This week, the post I want to highlight is titled One Big Goal.
Over the years, I’ve seen people struggle to put an action plan together to meet their goals.
This post breaks down 6 steps you can take to reduce the overwhelm of a big, yearlong goal.
- Solidify the Goal
- Break Down the Year
- Set Goals for Segments
- Consider the Segment
- Create the Actions
- Routines & Scheduling
There is detail on each step in the post.
I’ve been using this approach for 10+ years now and it makes achieving goals much more attainable. I also like how it helps me recognize the progress and milestones on the journey.
My Blog Posts This Week
The first two posts are a pairing that I hope are a resource for those who have taken the Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment. As a certified CliftonStrengths coach, I’ve been trying to use what I’ve observed with clients to create frameworks on how to use our strengths to address daily challenges. The first post, Discovering Goals that Fit, explores why some goals might be a better fit with certain strengths than with others. The second post, Using CliftonStrengths to Meet Your Goals, looks into what makes goals motivating and how to inspire action.
The next post asks the question, Do You Thrive on Big Goals or Small Steps? The link provides a four-box matrix to consider how you are motivated to set and achieve goals.
To round out the week, we’ll take a look at the post, Rest Drives Productivity. With January full of goal energy and productivity, this post reminds us that we can do more when we rest. Instead of pushing through, consider taking a 5-minute break.
