This week, I’ve seen so many posts about job loss resulting from the Omnicom acquisition of IPG. It’s not as if we haven’t seen layoffs across all kinds of companies and industries. However, I feel another gut punch each time I see the people who have been impacted.

While my normal weekly content is in this newsletter, I wanted to provide links to a bunch of content I’ve published in the last year that might just help those recently impacted. There are hundreds of posts on my blog that can be searched with keywords. The 10 linked below are a few of my favorites that are relevant during the early days of a layoff.

If you know others who could benefit from these links, please pass them along.

My Blog Posts This Week

This week, I want to highlight my post titled “A Unique Way to Assess Your Year”.

I love the analogy of the plant as it relates to our life and our growth. This post has you thinking about the past year a little differently. Considering things like: What seeds did you plant? What harvests were celebrated? What did you prune?

There is a worksheet included to consider these questions across the 8 dimensions of wellbeing: Physical, Emotional, Spiritual, Financial, Intellectual, Occupational, Social, and Environmental.

Be A Product. This post takes a look at personal branding through a different lens. What if your unique differences were a product you were selling to a company?

2025 Fingerprints. As we look back through the year, we can track the progress we made. This post encourages us to consider the fingerprints we left behind.

Small Pleasures. This post covers a moment that provided a simple pleasure for me. I think we sometimes forget to step back and remind ourselves of the simple things that bring us joy.

10 Personal Branding Actions Before Year End. The end of the year is the perfect time to reset your personal brand. These ideas will give you some practical steps.

Podcasts That Caught My Attention

This week is a bit longer list and an eclectic mix of topics. Leading the younger generation, caring for the older generations, and adjusting to life without kids at home. No matter your stage in life, I hope there is something here that resonates. I loved the quick “wishes for the week” idea.

Stop Complaining About Gen Z. Start Leading Them. 26 minutes. The Next Big Idea Daily. This episode talks about how to use the difference of Gen Z to your advantage. Two books are highlighted: The Future Begins with Z: Nine Strategies to Lead Generation Z as They Disrupt the Workplace by Tim Elmore and The Empathy Advantage: Leading the Empowered Workforce by Heather E. McGowan and Chris Shipley

Wishes for the Week. 4 minutes. Before Breakfast. This short episode has a beautifully simply idea. Ask people what they want out of a week and see if you can make those wishes come true.

Avoid Holiday Overwhelm by Saying No to Almost Everything. 11 minutes. Optimal Living Daily. Courtney Carver suggests we redefine how we approach the holidays by letting go of obligations, perfectionism, and pressure. Focusing on what truly matters.

How to Grow Old. 26 minutes. The Next Big Idea Daily. This podcast covers highlights from two books on aging. Sandeep Jauhar shares insights from his book, My Father’s Brain, exploring his father’s descent into Alzheimer’s and revealing what neuroscience tells us about why our brains degenerate with age. The second book features a lighter take on aging with a summary of the book Stupid Things I Won’t Do When I Get Old by Steven Petrow.

Who Am I Without Kids at Home? 44 minutes. Happier with Gretchen Rubin. In this episode, Gretchen is a guest on the “Laugh Lines” podcast. They have a conversation about parenting after the kids move out.
