Welcome to the Saturday Summary.

What I’ve Posted – Blog Summary

This week, the three posts in the middle of the week focus on organization and finding more space in our lives. The last one continues the series of ideas on how to savor our summer.

Fitting In. The first post of the week focuses on fitting in to structures that others create and knowing when you just aren’t a fit for that structure.

Piles and Files – How We Organize. Two types of organization styles are pilers and filers. Pilers like to see their papers while filers like them hidden from sight. This post has a solution for both.

Apply “RAD” to Systems and Routines. This post explores a process to make the systems and routines in our lives more efficient. Allowing for open time to do the things you are trying to fit in.

How to Take Back Control of Our Overloaded Schedules. This post is full of suggestions and links to other posts to get back in the driver’s seat of our schedule.

Game On Summer. This last post of the week provides some ideas to gamify your summer and add a little more fun to the season. It’s not about playing games (unless that’s a goal of your summer), it’s focused on getting what you want out of the season.

What I’ve Listened To – PodList

This week, I like how the first two selections tie to organization and finding space in our life – aligning with some of the blog posts above. If you can only listen to one, I would go with the 3rd one. There are tips and ideas that all of us could use. I’ve ordered the book.

There Will Always be eMails. 5 minutes. Before Breakfast. The title of this podcast says it all. Life is always full and we need to intentionally decide to pursue our goals.

6 Powerful Benefits of Decluttering Your Home and Life. 12 minutes. Optimal Living Daily. Jennifer Burger shares six transformative benefits of decluttering, from saving time and reducing stress to building confidence and making intentional choices.

Reclaiming the Lost Art of True Connection. 15 minutes. The Next Big Idea Daily. Ximena Vengoechea provides ideas from her new book, Listen Like You Mean It, on listening types and how to listen better.

How Often Should You Publish. 10 minutes. Optimal Work Daily. In this episode, Seth Godin shares thoughts on sharing content. I especially liked the conversation on the front list vs. the back list.

Critical: Your Marketing Job Plan B. 65 minutes. This Old Marketing. This episode is long, and you could skip forward to the discussion on Plan B. This conversation underlines what I’ve been seeing and developing content for. It’s why we need to become our own MeEO.

What I’ve Been Up To

On the professional front, I started sharing the fractional role I took on at the end of last year. I’ve been working with the Wayfarer Solutions team on their branding and marketing. The company has a great gamification product that amplifies relationship marketing for a brand. This is an area of marketing that I knew little about and I’m now hooked. I see so much potential for companies out there. I’m excited to keep digging in. In parallel, I’ll be continuing to develop ideas and strategies to support people on their MeEO journey.

Outside of work, I read the short Elin Hilderbrand book, Natural Selection. I enjoyed it. However, going in I thought it was going to be a full novel. I was a bit surprised at how quickly it ended. My relaxing TV time was full of Love Island and Tigers Baseball – yes, I realize the contrast in the two! We enjoyed the 4th of July attending the outdoor wedding of our nephew and his beautiful bride. As the day wound down, we watched neighborhood fireworks from the sunroom.
