What I’ve Posted – Blog Summary
This week the posts are focused on our goals for the year – how to measure, systems to keep us on track, and celebrating the little steps that keep us moving forward.
Type of Year. The first post of the week covers 4 different types of years defined by Jay Shetty. Considering your 2025 goals, what type of year do you see for yourself?
MeEO – Setting Goals and Measuring Results. This post takes the business metrics of KPIs and OKRs and considers how we could use these in our personal development.
Systems Support Goals. As we are kicking off new habits and goals for the year, we can use systems to help us act, track progress, and celebrate the wins. What systems are you using?
Infrastructure. Our lives are full of infrastructure – the systems and processes we have developed to run our lives. We often put these on autopilot and don’t audit where changes could be made.
Do the Work – Bit by Bit. We’ve all heard the phrase to eat the elephant bite by bite, but what does this really mean? This last post of the week provides examples of tiny steps you can take.
What I’ve Listened To – PodList
This week, there are episodes that can help you with new year’s goals and resolutions. The last one on the list is a bit different from the others, but I loved listening and wanted to pass along.
The 2-minute Decluttering Rule (Small Actions for Big Wins). 14 minutes. Optimal Living Daily. Start out the new year with great tips on how to keep your environment clutter-free in the year ahead.
You Need an Editor. 11 minutes. The Next Big Idea Daily. Great tips and advice to keep our email in check. From the new book by Jenn Bane and Melissa Harris, “Everybody Needs an Editor: The Essential Guide to Clear and Effective Writing.”
How to End the War with Your Body. 60 minutes. 10% Happier. For those with New Year’s goals around physical activity and weight loss, I recommend this one. An interview with Sonya Renee Taylor discussing her book The Body is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love.
How a Buddy System Can Help You Reach Your Goals. 18 minutes. Life Kit. The title of this one says it all – we all need a support system, and this episode provides ideas on how to find your “buddies”.
12 Truths I Learned from Life and Writing. 16 minutes. TED Talks Daily. This talk by Anne Lamott focuses on a list of truths she created before turning 61. Funny and impactful. I really enjoyed this.
What I’ve Been Up To
This week, I’ve been having exploration calls with people interested in the 5-week coaching program. Each conversation shapes their individual coaching roadmaps and sets a path for them to achieve their version of a MeEO. I look forward to seeing where their journeys take them!
Outside of work, I’m starting the room by room annual deep clean of the house. I started with the laundry room and spent 30-minutes a day clearing all the shelves and sorting – keep, trash, recycle, donate, and sell. I did one area a day until all the shelves and cabinets were organized and ready for the year ahead. It feels SO good to have all the unnecessary stuff out of there. I smile each time I go in. Next up – the kitchen – same process with all the cabinets and a deep clean of everything.
