In a previous post, I covered different ways of journaling to find one that works for you.
There is one type of journaling that wasn’t covered and deserves a post of its own.
Work journaling.
When looking at articles on work journals, there are several purposes.
Capturing thoughts on your career development.
Working through feelings and emotions as it relates to the people you work with.
Organizing and planning.
My Thoughts
One area that is surprisingly not on the list is project development.
When something we are working on gets complicated and messy, this is a great time to journal.
Writing down the situation and brainstorming the next steps is a great technique.
A presentation flow that hasn’t been working can be reconsidered outside the confines of the slides.
The writing process can help you work through and clarify your thoughts.
This makes it easier to continue forward progress.
Alternatives can be considered and sorted out to develop a point of view.
Your Turn
Have you ever used a journal at work?
What topics do you address in the writing?
How might work journaling provide you with clarity of thoughts?
