I recently heard an interesting thought on the Before Breakfast podcast.

The episode was titled The Work Brings Inspiration  and in 5 minutes it said a lot.

The quote that resonated with me was this:

“Good ideas find you when you have built in space to do creative work.

Doing the work creates the inspiration.”

– Laura Vanderkam

My Perspective

The last four years I’ve written every morning.

I have built time and space to do the creative work.

With the daily work, I’m amazed at how the ideas flow.

I have a backlog of inspiration.

Each morning, I pick something from the list of ideas that resonates with me that day.

Today, the quote shown above was the inspiration.

This same approach has worked with a backlog of projects at home.

Working for just 15 minutes on these each day is inspiration to do more.

I see progress.

I get more ideas in the process.

The flow continues.

I think this philosophy could work with many areas of our life.

Doing the work on a project, relationship, hobby, or chore list brings inspiration.

Ideas for what could continue to make things better.

Improvement.

Day by day. Step by step.

More inspired.

Your Turn

Do you find that when you are working on a project the ideas flow?

Have you dedicated the time and space to the areas of life you want more inspiration or improvement?

How could you start a daily routine around something that matters to you?
