As we enter the new year, many are starting new habits.
Sometimes to bring in new habits, old ones need to be sunset.
Even good habits may no longer serve us.
We need to shift and evolve for our current season.
My Story
I made the decision to shift my writing practice this year.
I’m still going to write every day, but the format will be different.
You won’t even see a change with what I post.
However, my habit is shifting from 1-page new content to organizing existing content.
Creating longer form documents. Turning posts into workbooks.
Stringing ideas together for a book or a course. Making this shift is something I want to do.
However, after 3 years of the current format, I’m nervous about letting it go.
I’m worried that the discipline won’t be the same.
I’m worried I won’t see the quick results and get discouraged.
I’m worried I’ll stop having fresh ideas.
There are conditions I’m putting in place to combat this.
However, I still wonder…Will I lose my touch?
I’m nervous.
Yet somewhere inside I know it’s the right thing to do.
It’s hard to quit a good habit.
This one feels like the toughest one I’ve done.
Your Turn
Have you struggled to drop a good habit?
Was it something you dropped completely or just shifted the focus?
How did you get past the nervousness of dropping it?
