We all have a personal brand.

It’s how people perceive us.

What they think about our work – what we do and how we do it.

It’s what others talk about when we aren’t in the room.

We may not want to have a personal brand.

We may not like the one we have.

Or we may want to make qualities known by more than just those who know us well.

Everything Communicates

There isn’t just one thing that makes up our brand.

All the decisions we make and actions we take create the essence of our personal brand.

Our online and offline presence.

The design of our online websites, social media banners, and photos.

The content we choose to post.

The words we use in our communications.

The way we approach our work.

The product of our work.

The choices we make in what to wear.

And how to do our hair.

They all come together to create a message we send to the world.

Understanding the messages we are sending enables us to make choices.

We can decide if we want to reinforce attributes.

Remove others.

Add new ones. The key is to be intentional with our choices.

Color, style, tone of voice, area of expertise, and more.

Intentional and consistent. Slow and steady.

Your Turn

Do you understand your personal brand?

How do others describe you and your difference?
