Welcome to the Saturday Summary.
My Blog Posts
This week the From Agency Life to Life with Agency post marks a focus area of my writing over the last three years. I have loved my career, the people I worked with, and the impacts made. That said, I feel like over the years I lost my agency….and my creativity. I simply ran out of energy and time for both. As I coach others, I see the same pattern. We have forgotten what internal motivation looks like and we are in automatic mode being motivated by the needs of everyone around us. A balance of both is needed. I want to help us all rediscover the motivation within. Please let me know your thoughts on the topic.
The Great Lock-In 2025. This first post of the week focuses on a trend this season to double down on your annual goals that might have fallen behind. Fall is a great season to get focused.
From Agency Life to Life with Agency. We all know the crazy, hectic world of agency and corporate life. This post suggests that you can better manage in that ecosystem by shifting to life with agency.
What’s Your Script? We all have scripts that work in the background as we lead our lives. This post asks hard questions about what might be running on default in the background of your life.
Scripts Don’t Run Alone. This post builds on the one above. Our personal scripts intersect with the scripts (cultures) of the groups we are in – work, community, family.
Enjoy the Ride. The final post of the week is a fun one. I discovered a post I wrote the day after my daughter’s wedding (18 months ago). The lesson still resonates today so it’s going live now.
Podcasts That Caught My Attention
This week, there isn’t really a theme to the curated podcasts. Just an eclectic mix of information that I found to be thought provoking. I hope you find a couple that meet your needs right now.
Risk Forward. 13 minutes. The Next Big Idea Daily. This episode summarizes the book Risk Forward: Embrace the Unknown and Unlock Your Hidden Genius.
You are Not a Middle Schooler Changing Classes. 6 minutes. Before Breakfast. This episode reinforces that our schedule doesn’t serve us if we just move from meeting to meeting. The title reminded me of a post I wrote a while ago on 10 ways work can feel like middle school.
Take a Nap. 14 minutes. The Next Big Idea Daily. Joseph Jebelli provides highlights from his new book is The Brain at Rest: How the Art and Science of Doing Nothing Can Improve Your Life.
Why Having Fun is the Secret to a Healthier Life. 13 minutes. TED Talks Daily. Fun isn’t just enjoyable, it’s also essential for our health and happiness. This episode shares easy, evidence-backed ways to weave playfulness, flow and connection into our everyday life.
Alex Hormozi: This is exactly how to make your first million. 120 minutes. On Purpose with Jay Shetty. This is definitely a time commitment, but I found the interview really interesting and took away insights into how I think about money, investing, and tradeoffs. Worth the time.
What I’ve Been Up To
On the professional front, there were two areas of locked in focus – preparing presentations for three important meetings and framing two all-day in person workshops that I’ll be offering in metro-Detroit in November and early January. The space for these is going to be very limited and most of the signups will be in 1on1 conversations. If you want to know more please reach out.
Outside of work, I was excited to hit my milestone of 100 consecutive days doing a Peloton strength and/or yoga workout. Now that I hit 100 it feels like a habit in my days that I will continue. While I enjoyed the warm summer-like weather, I also realized that I’m ready for the fall season 60–70-degree temperatures. To nudge the fall feeling, I’ve pulled out the fall décor and candles to get into the vibe of the season.
