Welcome to the Saturday Summary.
What I’ve Posted – Blog Summary
All the posts this week have ideas and inspiration to take control of the emotions and overwhelm of day to day life. Simple ideas that can make a big, positive impact.
Book Review: The Let Them Theory. The first post of the week provides a quick summary of Mel Robbins’ newest book. I found it to be very well researched and inspirational.
Let Me. The second part of the Let Them theory. This post builds on Monday and highlights how your actions or the “let me” part of the equation is just as important as let them.
Soul vs. Spirit – What is the Difference? Often these two words are used interchangeably. This post explores the differences and how to nourish your soul and energize your spirit.
Zen at Work. This post covers what Zen at work looks like and five things we can do to encourage it. I like the point that “Zen cannot exist where there is clutter”.
Give Shinrin-Yoku a Try. This post explores the Japanese practice of forest bathing. As the weather changes seasons, this could be a great activity to reduce some of the weight you are carrying.
What I’ve Listened To – PodList
This week, the first two podcasts consider business and marketing strategy. The second two focus on our rest and relaxation. We end the list with a checklist for those looking toward retirement.
The Strategic Genius of Taylor Swift. 13 minutes. The Next Big Idea Daily. HBR editor, Kevin Evers, covers the headlines of his book, There’s Nothing Like This: The Strategic Genius of Taylor Swift.
What Makes Virtual Influencers Effective. 12 minutes. Knowledge at Wharton. An interesting interview with Jonah Berger on how to make virtual influencers more human and trustworthy.
17 Unbeatable Ways to Create a Peaceful, Relaxed Workday. 11 minutes. Optimal Work Daily. This episode shares strategies for cultivating a workspace that nurtures calm, clarity, and productivity.
Salugenology (Why Humans Need Hobbies). Part 1. 67 minutes. Part 2. 54 minutes. Ologies with Alie Ward. I really enjoyed listening to these two longer podcast episodes all about hobbies. I know it’s a commitment, but there are so many topics packed in, I would highly recommend.
Your Retirement Checklist. 11 minutes. Optimal Finance Daily. This short episode is great for anyone starting to think about retirement and ensuring you get your finances ready.
What I’ve Been Up To
This week started with a relaxing and enjoyable Mother’s Day. I hope all the moms out there enjoyed theirs as well! From there, the workweek didn’t have anything much out of the norm or noteworthy. With rainy weather, I didn’t get outside walking and doing yardwork as much as I would have liked. I’m hopeful that this weekend will make up for it!
Outside of work, I finished reading a fictional book – Life Derailed. In the title, the “AI” is bold (couldn’t make this look right here). I really enjoyed it. A drama/romance with the struggle we are facing on how to integrate AI into our lives woven through the storyline.
