What I’ve Listened To – PodList
This week, I’m a fan of all these episodes. If you haven’t listened to a podcast about Seth Godin’s latest book, this one is great. The Work is Broken episode will have you thinking about how older generations might learn from the youngest entering the workforce. And, the last two appear focused on job loss, yet I feel the strategies discussed have much broader application.
How to Craft Your “Life Strategy” with Seth Godin. 66 minutes. Sparked. In this episode, Johnathan speaks with Seth Godin about his book This Is Strategy: Make Better Plans. Seth challenges us to abandon outdated systems and instant gratification in favor of smart, purposeful choices that shape a better tomorrow.
You Should be Taking More Risks. How to Get Over Your Fear and Do It. 15 minutes. 10% Happier with Dan Harris. Dan interviews Sue Ashford from the University of Michigan, Stephen M. Ross School of Business. They discuss how people can be maximally effective in their work lives.
Work is Broken. Gen Z can Help Fix It. 13 minutes. TED Talks Daily. Researcher Amanda Schneider shares data-driven insights on Gen Z and explains why their preferences are key to unlocking a more flexible, effective workplace for everyone.
Reverse the Search. 14 minutes. Daily Creative with Todd Henry. In this episode, Todd interviews Madeline Mann and discusses her book Reverse the Search. She talks about transitioning from being a job seeker to a job shopper, a mindset that shifts from chasing to attracting opportunities.
How to Transform Yourself From Job Seeker to Job Shopper. 36 minutes. Sparked. This is another great interview with Madeline Mann discussing her book referenced above.
What I’ve Been Up To
This week, I continued work behind the scenes on the MeEO™ Membership. To provide some behind the curtain challenges, I have managed to delete the main page of my “shop”. I was doing some final testing and didn’t like the alignment of the photo and text for each membership level. As I tried to “fix” it, the shop disappeared. I thought I found a workaround, but when I went to test the payment gateway, everything was broken. So, here I sit, trying to fix it. When you see what appears seamless from anyone you follow online, just know that behind the scenes they may be dealing with all kinds of issues! Hopefully, it’s figured out quickly and I can get the links out to everyone.
Outside of work, we are hosting a surprise milestone birthday party for our son-in-law at our house this weekend. While there are many involved in the plans and prep, this has made me focused on getting the house set up and ready this week. I also found time to take walks, read, and watch some fun shows…although I finished Find Me in Paris so I need a new series to watch.
