Welcome to the Saturday Summary! I hope you enjoy and connect with a few ideas.

What I’ve Posted – Blog Summary

The posts this week follow a very clear theme – agency and autonomy. We dive into the reasons they impact our happiness, the 8 dimensions of wellbeing, how they show up at work and more.

Drivers of Happiness. This first post of the week introduces the theme of the week. The topic is based on research that highlights the importance of agency and autonomy in our happiness.

Expanding on Agency & Autonomy. The second post goes deeper into these two dimensions and highlights what makes them different across several categories.

Agency, Autonomy, and the 8 Dimensions of Wellbeing. The title of this one says it all – there are ideas for gaining agency and autonomy in all 8 dimensions of wellbeing.

Shaping our Agency and Autonomy. The fourth post of the week has us considering how our childhood may have had an impact on our personal sense of agency and autonomy.

Agency & Autonomy at Work. We end the week, and this series focused on how the concepts of agency and autonomy show up at work and what we can do to nurture them.

Why You Think You Look Bad in Pictures. 14 minutes. TED Talks Daily. With the holidays on the horizon, I think you will love this TED Talk from portrait photographer Teri Hofford. She explains why we think look bad in photos — and how approach those moments captured in time.

What I’ve Been Up To

This week, even more layoffs have hit metro Detroit. This has me leaning in even further to try to find ways to help. I now have materials and programs to help those who lost their jobs as well as some workshops for those left behind (the survivor guilt and job loss fear is real). In the next two weeks some programs and plans will be out there for people to take advantage of.

Outside of work, I feel like the holiday season has sprung out of nowhere! I spent some time making plans for the weeks ahead and hanging some lights – yes, I’ve decided mid-November is an OK time to start to decorate! I also had to deal with a flat tire… the joys of vehicle ownership.
