As January winds down, our resolutions may be starting to fade away as the year ramps into full swing.
This is the perfect time to double down on a dream and turn it into a plan.
Our dreams live in our heads. The things we want to do “someday”.
Making the dream a reality takes planning and action.
If the dream requires money (travel to a grand destination), set a weekly savings goal and start saving.
If the dream requires time (run a marathon, learn a new skill), set blocks on your calendar.
If the dream requires connections (speaking at a high-profile event), create an outreach plan.
No matter what your dream is, nothing will ever happen until you take action.
My Story – A Book 15-years in the Making
In 2010, I started living a greener lifestyle and sharing what I learned through a blog and Facebook page called One Shade Greener.
Around 2015, I had the idea of writing a book to be a resource for those who wanted to live healthier and reduce their carbon footprint.
I knew the format. The chapters. The content.
However, nothing was out of my head. There was a lot of thinking with no action.
Once or twice an outline was written, but that was all.
Finally, a year ago the time had come. The book needed to be written or removed from the dream list.
I planned and set goals. I would write for 30 minutes each day until a draft was complete. Most days 30 minutes was the limit. However, on weekends, I was often able to find 2-3 hours which made the process go even faster.
Today, the dream is finally a reality. One Shade Greener at home is available as both an eBook and a paperback on Amazon. If you or someone you know might be interested, please check it out.
Your Turn
What are your dreams?
If you could pick one and make it happen (or get a solid start) this year, which one would it be?
How can you turn the dream into an action plan?
Before this month ends, pick a dream and start to make it a reality.
You can do it!
