I’ve thought a lot about transitions in the last few years.

The moments in between one version of ourselves and the next.

These transitions are filled with all kinds of emotions.

Feelings about what is no more.

Feelings about what is possible.

And many emotions in between.

As I’m getting ready for the transition of one year into another, the feelings are emerging.

The memories of all that has transpired.

The possibilities of the year ahead.

This brought back ideas from a Seth Godin post in 2016:

“Coming and going matter far more than what happens in the middle.

Opening things.

Closing them. ….

Humans remember the transitions, because it’s moments of change and possibility and trepidation that lights us up.”

– Seth Godin

My Perspective

As we make this transition from one year to another, we should enter with intentionality.

Spend time closing loops and celebrating the year that is coming to a close.

Start imagining what will open in the year ahead.

If we mostly remember the beginning and end, let’s make the most of it.

Enjoy that transition.

Shead this year’s version of ourselves.

Embrace the version that will enter for the new year.

Your Turn

Do you see the beauty in the transition year to year?

Is the transition time spent clearing space for possibilities in the year ahead?

What routines and rituals do you have.
