When thinking about becoming the Me-EO of your life, where to start can be daunting.
After considering all the tools available, I ended up with an acronym – SAVVY.
I connected with this word because of the definition:
“adjective. , sav·vi·er, sav·vi·est. experienced, knowledgable, and well-informed. Examples include consumers who are savvy about prices or a tech-savvy entrepreneur.” – Dictionary.com
To become a Me-EO we need knowledge, and information about ourselves…and our experiences.
The beginning of a Me-EO life is foundational. We need to be SAVVY about ourselves.
The Acronym
So, what is the SAVVY approach?
S = Strengths
Know what we are good at. The first step to becoming a Me-EO centers around our strengths.
Identifying the gifts we bring to the world.
Being able to communicate those to others.
This sets the foundation for our life and our career.
We are each unique
Identifying the qualities that sometimes seem simple or unimportant to us is likely the key to discovering our difference.
A = Approach
Know how we approach the world around us.
With an awareness of the special sauce that makes us unique, we dive in to better understand how we approach the world.
Understanding where we spend our time.
How our energy flows in and out each day.
How we are motivated.
How we build routines.
And much more.
V = Values
Know the values that drive our actions every day.
Once we understand some foundational elements, we can move on to our values.
These are the beliefs and principles that guide the way we live and work.
Values are abundant and there is no “right” set.
Getting clear on what you value will make future decisions easier.
V = Vision
Know what we want our lives and our careers to look like in the future.
With our self-awareness and values documented, we can create the vision for the life and career we want to lead.
What does a “day in the life” look like for us 20 years from now?
What about 5 years out?
Or even 6 months from now?
Knowing where you want to go with your life and career sets the stage for the next step.
Y = Yearning
Know what is driving you to the future.
When you consider your vision, what are the elements that you yearn for the most?
Get clear on the 1-3 elements that would enable the life you wish to lead and/or career you aspire towards.
These elements will provide the structure for the next phase.
Your personal Me-EO plan.
