We are nearly through the 8-dimensions of wellbeing.
Today, we cover #7 – spiritual.
Spiritual wellbeing is a connection with both our inner selves and something bigger than ourselves.
We each define these connections differently.
Last year, there were five dimensions of wellbeing that you can read more about in this post.
This year, one no longer feels like a fit – self-care.
I’m not sure why this was in the category to begin with as self-care can relate to all 8 dimensions.
Back in the spring, I wrote a post on purposeful self-care.
The point was that we can have different forms of self-care in all areas of our life.
As I removed self-care, I ended up adding the last dimension on the list below.
Dimensions of Spiritual Wellbeing
Introspection: Exploring our inner self for insights and connection to why we exist.
Purpose & Meaning: Defining values and discovering what brings purpose & meaning to our lives.
Inner Peace: Leveraging meditation and mindfulness to quiet the mind and gain inner calm.
Interconnectedness: The connections between people, nature, society, and the universe.
Presence: The new dimension is presence. Being involved and engaged with life in the present moment. This is a time to recognize and engage all five senses – sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. Be in conversations, savor the moments, and enjoy life as it is right now.
2024 Reflection Questions
As you reflect on 2024, here are some spiritual wellbeing questions to consider:
- Three words I would use to describe my spiritual wellbeing this year are:
- This year, how did I spend time considering my purpose and meaning?
- What did I do this year to connect to something bigger than me that I might not understand?
- Did I grow in my spiritual wellbeing this year? If so, how?
- Were there practices I put in place to quiet my mind and gain inner calm?
- How engaged did I feel in the present moments?
- Was I conscious of how my five senses were connecting with the world around me?
