The eighth and final wellbeing dimension in our series is Spiritual Wellbeing.

Our spiritual wellbeing is the connection to our soul.

Sometimes there are questions between emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Emotional wellbeing relates to how we feel when interacting with others and our environment.

Spiritual wellbeing relates to the interactions inside us – a quest for deeper meaning and connection.

Spirituality holds different meanings for each of us.

Yet, commonality is a source of guidance, inspiration, and strength.

Below are 5 elements of our spiritual wellbeing.

5 Elements of Spiritual Wellbeing

Looking Inward: Unlike religious affiliations, spiritual wellbeing is not confined to the walls of a particular institution. We can delve into their inner selves, exploring the fundamental questions of existence. Some may connect to a religious practice while others will experience a different exploration.

Purpose and Meaning: A life without purpose can make us feel like we are floating without direction. Spiritual wellbeing encourages us to explore and define our values and then align our actions accordingly. Once we discover and live in our purpose, our wellbeing in all dimensions is enhanced.

Self-Care: Spiritual wellbeing prompts us to explore the things that bring us joy and relaxation.  We can uncover hobbies and passions. Create routines and habits that rejuvenate us.  Unlike the things we discover in social wellbeing, these activities have a very internal connection, tapping into our soul.

Inner Peace: One of the primary goals of spiritual wellbeing is to cultivate inner peace. In a world filled with constant noise and distractions, finding moments of tranquility becomes crucial for our mental and emotional health. Practices such as meditation, mindfulness, and deep breathing exercises serve as powerful tools in quieting the mind and fostering a sense of inner calm.

Interconnectedness: While much of spiritual wellbeing is a solitary journey; it also emphasizes the interconnectedness of all living things. Recognizing the shared human experience and our connection to nature, society, and the cosmos can lead to a profound shift in perspective. Being present in all areas of our life enables us to engage and celebrate this connectivity.

My Perspective

I’ve spent a fair amount of time in the last 5-10 years looking inward.

Discovering and rediscovering my purpose and seeking inner peace.

I brought back hobbies that brought me joy when I was young.

Considered my religion and what that means to me.

Thought about and wrote down my values.

Created a personal mission statement.

Began practicing meditation.

Focused on being more present in my connection with others.

Explored activities like sound baths and full moon ceremonies.

And more.
