There was an episode of Little Happier recently that talked about desire paths.
The grass worn shortcuts people create when constructed paths take longer, less convenient routes.
The short, 3-minute episode suggested we look for other desire paths in our lives.
My Perspective
Systems have been on my mind lately which made this podcast very relevant.
I immediately thought of a desire path that I realized just the other day.
Each day after my shower I get dressed in my closet.
Somewhere along the way, I exit the closet to apply deodorant om the bathroom and then go back.
Over 20 years I’ve done this.
Suddenly I thought “What if I put the deodorant on a shelf in the closet?”
So, I did.
This change has made me so happy.
I can’t figure out why I didn’t “see” this desire path sooner.
Sometimes we are so close to our constructed path that we overlook the desire path.
My eyes are now open to discover more little paths of joy in my life.
Your Turn
Have you ever discovered a desire path in your life?
What is one part of your day that frustrates you?
Can you consider the purpose and the system to look for ways to solve the problem?
