This weekend we are hosting an event.

The event isn’t exactly ours.

It’s one my daughter and son-in-law are having for their friends.

Our house just worked out better for the size of the group.

They came by last night to set up the tables and get the prep started.

Since it’s their event, I’m not cooking, planning activities, or doing any logistics.

However, I do have one responsibility – decorating.

Creating the ambiance of the event.

For the tables and the rest of the environment.

I can’t express how excited I am.

I LOVE this part of hosting.

I have accumulated table décor – runners, vases, small seasonal objects.

The boxes have been brought out and I’m spinning with ideas.

The event is tomorrow.

So, today will be my day to create the feeling.

Setting the mood.

Tomorrow, people may not notice what I did.

In fact, sometimes great décor just surrounds a great event and doesn’t take center stage.

My joy will come today.

Planning. Creating. And finding solutions for areas that just “don’t feel right”.

Event decorating provides me with a small pleasure.

I’m glad I’ve started to recognize how much I enjoy these moments.
