Welcome to the Saturday post. This is where I summarize podcasts that inspired me throughout the week and give a quick recap of what was covered on both blogs. Enjoy!

PodList

This week, there are four podcasts that stood out to me.  Topics include creating an ikigai, networking, sustainability, and employee engagement.  I hope you find some that resonate with you.

Finding Our Purpose Through Ikigai. 51 minutes. In the Arena with Leah Smart.  For those who have considered creating their own ikigai, this episode is worth a listen.

Making Connections with Susan McPherson. 31 minutes. Hello Monday with Jessi Hempel.  This podcast covers the right way to go about creating a strong personal network.

What Your Employees Need and Won’t Tell You. 33 minutes. Brainfluence with Roger Dooley. As teams continue to have a stronger focus on employee experience, this podcast talks about things employees are thinking, but are likely not talking about.

You Need to Take Geographic Granularity Seriously. 8 minutes. How to Save the World. In this podcast episode, the concept of breaking things down into smaller communities makes change more manageable.

Blog Post Recap

Below is a summary of the personal development blog posts this week with links in case you want to dig in and learn more.  You can sign up to get the newsletters direct to your inbox at LoriSullivan.com.

Optimal Distinctiveness – This first post explores how we each need to discover the right balance between standing out and fitting in that feels comfortable.

Clothing as a Tool – For anyone who struggles to decide what to wear, this post may be for you.  Shifting our perspective on the outfit we are choosing could make decisions easier.

Habits Define Us – To become known for something, we need to make that activity part of our daily habits.  If we don’t make these things a priority, no one else will notice.

Careers and Hobbies – This post is based on a framework from Elizabeth Gilbert that defines the differences between a job, hobby, career, and vocation.

Purpose, Passion, and Paths – The last post of the week was a springboard off a quote that suggested purpose and passion propel you forward while planned paths hold you back.

One Shade Greener

Below is an overview of the post on the blog this week. If you are interested in learning more about sustainability at home or work, you can sign up to receive messages in your email at One Shade Greener.

Minimalism: Finding “Enough”.  This post was inspired by two documentaries on minimalism and explores the idea of allowing what you own to be enough. As we move toward fall, this is one of the best times of year to start new habits.  Looking at your lifestyle and finding ways to live greener and remove toxins from your home could be a great focus.  Pick up a copy of One Shade Greener at Home on Amazon to get you started on your journey.
