The organization and productivity worlds are full of processes and systems.
Those systems manage physical things as well as digital information.
Both can be overwhelming.
And, sometimes, so can the recommended solutions!
My Perspective
With everything I’ve read and tried over the years, I’ve realized that the solution that works for one person may not be right for another.
We each need to test and try and discover our own personal operating systems.
One of the areas that creates challenges is discovering a bridge between physical and digital information.
Some people print everything out and leverage a completely physical system.
Others scan physical documents and organize everything in a digital system.
Then, there are those like me, who can’t seem to move 100% to one form or another.
My Story
There are some parts of my system that work well like finances, to-do lists, and calendars.
The area that I’m still most disorganized and working on my operating system is project information.
Files aren’t tagged well online.
Ideas are added to the notes app on my phone as they come to me when I’m out walking.
Books (physical and Kindle) have highlights that relate to something I’m working on.
Thoughts prompted by meetings and conversations are added to my physical notebook.
Pieces and parts seem to be everywhere!
