We’ve all heard of mission statements for companies.
They add purpose and clarity to the role the business wants to play in society.
What if we took this concept and applied it to ourselves.
We could develop overall mission statements.
Or go deep on a mission statement that guides one of our 8 dimensions of wellbeing.
Crafting Personal Mission Statements
Before creating our mission statements, we need to step back and do some introspection.
For those who have completed SAVVY steps in the Me-EO process, you will have a good start.
Others can consider these exercises:
Reflect on Your Core Values: Consider what principles are most important to you. These could include integrity, compassion, creativity, or any other values that resonate deeply with you.
Identify Your Goals: Think about what you want to achieve in different areas of your life, such as career, relationships, health, and personal growth.
Envision Your Ideal Future: Picture what you want your life to look like in the future living in alignment with your values and goals. This vision will help shape your mission statement.
Write and Refine: Draft your mission statement, keeping it clear and concise. It should be a few sentences that encapsulate your values, goals, and vision. Revisit and revise it as needed to ensure it remains relevant and meaningful.
Once the statement is written, keep it in a place where it can be seen often.
Our mission provides clarity, motivation, and direction.
Helps us move through challenges with resilience and purpose.
Fosters our growth.
