The workplace these days has a lot of challenges.
Reports suggest that people feel underappreciated.
Team members are unengaged.
Everyone seems overwhelmed.
And the debates about hybrid work continue.
Today might be perfect the perfect day to focus on something positive.
It’s the National Day of Encouragement.
My Perspective
Providing encouragement doesn’t have to be difficult or take a lot of time.
You could start your day by providing yourself with some encouragement.
Let yourself know “you got this” and provide a pep talk for anything difficult.
As you weave through your day, consider team members, family, and friends.
Here are just a few ideas to get you started:
- Notice someone working on a big project and encourage them to stick it out.
- Be generous with high fives and fist bumps for accomplishments.
- Let people know you see the progress they have made.
- Recognize if someone is struggling and offer encouragement and support.
- Drop a note that starts someone’s day off with a bit of a boost.
Your Turn
Who in your life do you want to make sure you encourage today?
What moments on the calendar could have elements of encouragement and/or celebration?
How can you provide 3 people a boost to start their day?
