We all have things we put off because the stakes feel too high.

We don’t send a request because we are afraid of a “no”.

We avoid the purchase of a piece of furniture because we fear it might not work in our space.

A big one for me is something that I heard a suggestion for the other day.

I fear putting things on the walls of my house.

I’m afraid I won’t like them once they are hung.

Then, there will be a hole in the wall that will need repaired.

The idea was to use Command strips.

This lowers the stakes.

If the picture is hung and it doesn’t work, move it.

No damage to the walls.

If you like it and need something more secure, add a nail and hook.

This has me thinking that maybe we can find ways to lower the stakes in other areas of our life.

Command strips lowered the stakes for hanging things on the wall

How can we find ways to lower the stakes in other areas of our life?

Your Turn

Do you have something you are avoiding because the stakes seem too high?

What could you do to lower them just a little bit?

What is the worst that could happen if you just do it?
