Last week, there was a post about the infrastructure of our lives.

Our bank accounts, apps on our phone, subscriptions, insurance, and more.

On the heels of that post, I heard a podcast about the cycles in our home life.

Things like Laundry.

Paying Bills.

Grocery Shopping.

Cleaning.

As soon as we finish, the cycle starts again.

Clothes get dirty.

More bills come in.

Food is eaten.

Dust emerges.

My Perspective

What if each year we evaluated each of our infrastructure cycles?

We could ask ourselves what is working and what isn’t.

We could brainstorm ideas to make the cycles more enjoyable.

We could understand if some of these infrastructure cycles relax us with their repetitiveness.

We could consider how others in our home could help.

We could explore what could be automated.

Streamlined.

Outsourced.

How could our cycles occupy less of our time and free it up for other activities?

How could we engineer these activities to be as enjoyable as possible?

Your Turn

What are the infrastructure cycles in your life?

Which one do you dread the most? Which one is most enjoyable? Why? How could you update one of your infrastructure cycles to make it better in 2024?
