Our lives can be crazy.

Sometimes the days and weeks feel out of control.

Over the last few years, I’ve written many posts about how to regain that control.

Move from a defensive position in life to one of offense.

Below is a summary of some of the ideas I’ve shared along with links to the original posts.

Know Where Your Time Goes: We can’t figure out why our lives feel so crazy without understanding how we are spending our time. Taking back control starts with a good time audit. Learn more about Time Audits.

Create Boundaries That Stick: Taking control of time starts with boundaries. Protect your time by setting clear limits on after-hours work, minimizing distractions, and scheduling around your most productive hours. Learn more in Setting Boundaries and Policies Support Boundaries.

The Power of Saying No: Overcommitment leads to burnout. Setting clear priorities and learning to say no without guilt helps reclaim time for what truly matters. This post has ideas on how to Decline with Confidence.

Focus Through Time Blocking: Instead of reacting to an endless to-do list, structure the day with time blocks. Dedicating specific time for deep work, meetings, and personal tasks can prevent distractions and boost productivity. Learn more from this post titled Batching and Blocking.

Identify Impact Tasks: Not everything on your list carries equal weight. Use the 80/20 rule to identify the 20% of tasks that drive 80% of the results. Focus on those first to maximize efficiency. Learn more in the post What is Your 20%.

Apply RAD: Take inventory of your tasks and ask: Can this be Removed? Automated? Delegated? Removing unnecessary or repetitive work frees up time for what truly requires your attention. Here’s the link to the more detailed post.

Overcoming the Guilt of Rest: Busyness isn’t a badge of honor. Recognizing that rest fuels productivity and intentionally scheduling breaks prevents burnout and keeps us operating at our best. I like the post The Tension Between Duty and Play that starts with ideas for 5 minutes of rest.
