When we consider our goals, we place more focus on gaps than gains.
We quickly consider how far we are from what we want to achieve.
Or, if we hit a goal, we might raise the bar higher.
Again, focusing on the gap.
What if we instead spent time reflecting on gains?
Considering how far we’ve come.
Looking at other areas where progress has been made.
Celebrating the small wins.
Being grateful for where we are.
My Perspective
I’m personally guilty of this one.
If I meet a goal, I set a new one.
If I fall short of a goal, I focus on the gap and where things went wrong.
In the year ahead, I plan to intentionally focus on the gains.
What is going well.
What progress has been made – each day, each week, each month.
I want to be grateful for the journey.
Our growth isn’t about a final state, it’s about continuous progress.
This year I flip the switch from the gaps to the gains.
No change in the process, just the perspective.
Your Turn
