When you think about the activities of your workday, what feels like rest?

The answer to this question is likely different for all of us.

Some may quickly say “5 minutes of time alone”.

Others may say, a “quick non-work chat with a co-worker”.

Rest could be a walk outside.

Time with email instead of meetings.

Enjoying lunch while not discussing work.

Spending 10 minutes reading a book.

The list goes on.

My Perspective

Our workdays are full of meetings and never-ending to do lists.

Understanding what activities will help us quickly get a reset can make the day better.

Thinking about our energy levels.

Finding time to charge.

Providing what we need to create and connect at our best.

When we are the busiest, we are the most likely not to rest.

Yet, if we took the time, we would be more productive post-rest.

Counterintuitive, but it works.

Short breaks restore the energy needed to push forward more efficiently.

Your Turn

When you get busy, do you tend to press on to finish?

Have you ever tried to take a break on a busy day and have been more productive after?

What short breaks would you choose to give you the highest quality rest?
