We all have goals across all areas of our life.
We also sometimes know the path to achieve the goal we have.
Yet, somehow, the goal seems elusive.
Sitting there for someone else to achieve – not us.
We have excuses.
Fears.
Avoidance.
The goal is right there taunting us every day.
We get frustrated and angry that we don’t have the discipline to achieve it.
My Perspective
There is no way to avoid the work needed to meet the goal.
The path to achieving the things we desire is paved with challenges.
After years of setting goals, achieving some, and having others sit there elusively, I have two primary pieces of advice:
- Do the work everyday.
- Break the goal into the tiniest pieces possible.
Every day, make progress on your goal.
This could be as small as writing a sentence.
Creating 1 PowerPoint slide.
Drawing 5 lines.
Doing one sit up.
Eating one less sweet.
The list goes on and on.
Bit by bit.
Step by step.
One Shade Greener (dark green=goal achievement).
Your Turn
Is there a goal that has continued to elude you?
How could you break it down into the smallest pieces?
What one step can be taken every day to make progress?
