Stop what you are doing.
How do you feel?
Energized?
Drained?
Every job has things you love that energize you (cheers) and things you dread that drain you (chores).
What fascinates me is that the same task may be a cheer for one person and a chore for another.
As you go through your day today, take note of your unique cheers and chores.
My Story
My cheers include researching, writing, analyzing a spreadsheet, writing a strategy, coaching, photography, and developing/delivering training workshops.
My chores include email, meetings that wander, and the logistics of posting on my website/social sites.
I found it interesting that the cheers list was much easier to create.
My theory is that the further you progress in your career you learn more about your cheers and chores.
As a result, you begin to choose roles that have more of your cheers and less of your chores.
If that isn’t happening naturally for you, I would recommend spending some time considering shifts!
Your Turn
What do your cheers look like?
What are the chores?
Was it hard to define activities in one area vs. the other?
