A few weeks ago, I heard about the book Hate the Game on a podcast.

The author, Daryl Fairweather, was highlighting some key points from the book and I was hooked.

The book focuses on how economic theories come into play in our daily life.

Throughout the book she demonstrates how we make choices and the economic impacts that those choices can have on our lives.

The decisions she focuses on are related to the earlier years of adult life.

College. Finding a partner. Having kids (or not). Job implications.

Buying & selling a home. And more.

While this is the focus audience, the lessons apply to anyone of any age.

My Perspective

I enjoyed the book and would recommend it – especially to a younger audience.

The balance of economics, game design, and behavioral science with personal stories made the content easy to understand and relatable.

Her approach can help us all understand the control we have in the decisions of our life.

I think this book is a great companion to Your Journey to Financial Freedom.

That book was reviewed here.

I would buy these two together and gift to someone just starting their adult journey.

When I look back across the years, I wish I would have learned more about financial decisions.

The implications of the choices you make early in life do have impacts in later years.

Knowing how the system works can make you more informed about your choices.
