I saw something in my email that referenced the meaning matrix from Ben James.
The matrix shown is below.

He expands to suggest that extroverts like spending time in the upper right.
Introverts enjoy the lower right. And neither spend enough time in the bottom right.
I agree that the bottom right doesn’t get enough attention.
Yet, I look at the top left differently and think we should consider the mix of where we are.
My Perspective
Building on the meaning matrix above, my interpretation would look like this:

This example leans toward our professional life but could be applied personally as well.
In my opinion, all four quadrants are valuable and necessary.
They influence and support each other.
The challenge is when you are spending too much time in just one or two quadrants.
Introverts on the left and extroverts on the right.
Learners on the top – all thinking, no action. Doers on the bottom – all action, no innovation.
I think it would be interesting to consider the percentage of time you spend in each quadrant.
Then, intentionally consider how you want to shift the numbers to be more balanced.
Your Turn
Which is your favorite square? Why do you think that is?
Which square is most neglected?
What might you do to shift the balance to be closer to where you want it to be?
