To coddiwomple is “to travel in a purposeful manner towards a yet unknown destination”.

I read this and took pause.

As a planner, I feel most of my life has been in pursuit of a desired destination.

The path to get there might bob and weave.

Yet, the point is to find a way to meet the goal (the destination).

When I hear about coddiwompling it seems foreign.

And risky.

Moving to an unknown end point.

I wonder what it would be like to move through life like this.

Driven by a purpose.

Unsure where it will take you.

The serendipity intrigues me.

I wonder if a planner can coddiwomple?

Can you do both at once?

Set goals (destinations) and move with intention (coddiwomple).

I’m going to think more about this and find a way to move with purpose.

We’ll see where it takes me.

And I’ll get to keep using the fun word… coddiwomple!

Your Turn

Is your tendency to plan toward goals or do you coddiwomple?

Where might you move with purpose?

Do you find the word “coddiwomple” as fun as I do?
